From a High-Risk Heart Condition to a Healthier Tomorrow: Baby Toni Elliana’s Journey from PNG to India
A Medivisor India Treatment Case Study
Sometimes, the smallest hearts carry the biggest battles.
Baby Toni Elliana, a beautiful 6–7-month-old baby girl from Papua New Guinea (PNG), came to India with her family seeking urgent medical treatment for a serious congenital heart condition. What followed was a challenging medical journey filled with uncertainty, difficult decisions and, ultimately, a successful outcome.
A Little Heart Facing a Big Challenge
Baby Toni Elliana was diagnosed with a large Ventricular Septal Defect (VSD)—a hole in the wall separating the two lower chambers of the heart.
Her condition was serious. Her oxygen saturation frequently remained around 90% or below, and at times it reportedly dropped as low as 50–60%, making timely medical intervention extremely important.
Concerned about her daughter’s health, Mrs. Nancy Morgan, Baby Elliana’s mother, contacted Medivisor India Treatment for assistance.
Understanding the urgency of the situation, our team immediately connected the family with an experienced pediatric cardiothoracic and cardiovascular surgeon in India. After reviewing the available medical information, the medical team explained the proposed treatment approach, expected investigations and potential risks to the family.
From PNG to India

After the necessary pre-arrival formalities were completed, Mrs. Nancy Morgan travelled to India with Baby Elliana and her family.
Upon their arrival, the Medivisor India Treatment team supported the family throughout the initial coordination process. The very next day, our team accompanied them to the hospital, where they met the treating doctors and Baby Elliana’s detailed investigations were initiated.
The investigations revealed that the case was more complex than initially anticipated.
A High-Risk Medical Journey
During the evaluation, doctors identified several serious concerns associated with Baby Elliana’s condition, including risks related to:
Heart failure
Breathing difficulties
Heart infection
Mixing of oxygenated and deoxygenated blood
Potential lung complications
Possible impact on normal brain development
Serious deterioration if the condition remained untreated
The medical team explained that the surgery would be high-risk, and the family was carefully counselled regarding the possible complications and risks involved.
For Baby Elliana’s family, it was an extremely difficult moment. But with the doctors' guidance and a strong determination to give their little girl a chance at a healthier future, the family decided to proceed with the treatment.
A Successful Surgery and a New Beginning
The surgery was successfully performed.
Following the procedure, Baby Elliana remained under close medical observation and received the necessary post-operative care. Gradually, her condition began to improve.
Her oxygen saturation improved, her breathing difficulties reduced significantly, and she continued to show positive progress during her recovery.
What began as a journey filled with uncertainty slowly turned into a story of hope, courage and recovery.
Today, Baby Toni Elliana is doing much better and continuing her journey towards a healthier and happier life.
