Fiji cancer patients can now get medicines from India
Starting 2019, cancer patients in Fiji can get cancer medicines (that are either not available or are expensive locally) bought and sent to them from India, thanks to Medivisor Health (MRx) widening the ambit of its medicine facilitation programme. Until now the organisation, mainly functioning as "India Treatment Information and Support Centre", was offering this service only to Fiji patients that ever went to them for treatment.
Organisation director Kumar Sushant says cancer drugs cost a huge sum and his organisation shall help patients with at least 20-30% discount. As it is the medicines in India are already lowly priced, the additional discount benefit shall give a big relief to cancer patients and families requiring lifelong management. He says the free service falls in line with organisation's commitment of helping Fiji patients in all possible manner. The organisation is soon going to start assisting people of Fiji needing treatment in India with fund raising.
The medicines will be sent through patients returning after treatment to Fiji from India. Sushant says people from Fiji are highly cooperative and supportive and the organisation has sent medicines to over 70 patients this way. The channel saves patients' money as there is no additional (delivery) cost involved except that of custom duty, if any. Also, patients get to receive medicines within a week or two as there are 8-10 patients from Fiji going to Medivisor Health for treatment and returning back every month.
Sushant says Medivisor Health has partnered with Globax Pharmacy in India for this programme. Effort shall be made to arrange each and every medicine, except ones requiring statutory permissions and stringent temperature control.
